The SmartWay® Transport Partnership is an innovative collaboration between the U.S. EPA and the freight industry to increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution. Our
trailers are equipped with wireless active control of the reefer
environment. Using satellite,
cellular or a combination of both we can provide:

of the trailer
•* Full reefer unit
monitoring including door sensors, all alarms, reefer operational status
and any changes

two-way remote configuration of the reefer (temp) controller
•* Comprehensive
fuel monitoring capable of detecting rapid fuel loss, fuel usage and
refuel events
•* On-board geo
fencing to manage arrivals, departures and trailer dwell times.

these is integrated through live feed directly into our logistics
system. In all, we can monitor
each aspect of the trailer and reefer unit and control the entire

Acquisition of Carolina Refrigerated SIDNEY, OH – Continental Express, Inc. has announced the acquisition of Carolina Refrigerated for an undisclosed sum on December 1, 2010. Carolina Refrigerated is based in Gaffney, South Carolina and serves primarily the Southeast region. Continental Express, Inc. is a national refrigerated logistics company based in Sidney, OH. The new Gaffney, South Carolina location will join its current terminals in Sidney, Ohio; Danville, Virginia; and Louisville, Kentucky. “Logistically this made perfect sense for our current business strategy and also for future expansion plans,” says owner Russell Gottemoeller. “Bringing this facility online enables us to be within one day transit time for the entire Southeast U.S. instead of only providing service back into the Midwest. This acquisition demonstrates our commitment to our customers in the Southeast as well as our commitment to grow. We are extremely excited to bring Carolina Refrigerated into the Continental family.” Continental Express, in addition to the local terminal facility in Gaffney, has hired the existing Carolina Refrigerated employees. Continental now employs over 350 drivers, mechanics and office staff companywide. “Our business plan includes continued annual growth. This requires additional staff and drivers to maintain the high levels of service that our customers have come to expect.”Gottemoeller said. “We very much look forward to further developing the Southeast through our newly acquired addition.” Continental Express, Inc. is a truckload carrier specializing in refrigerated freight. Their primary service area includes the Midwest, Southeast, Central Atlantic, West to Salt Lake with weekly coverage to the west coast. Continental’s 4 maintenance facilities are home to 250 trucks and 500 trailers. As a Smartway certified carrier, Continental Express has also been investing recently in hybrid technologies in order to diminish their impact on the environment. Their belief that SAFETY, SERVICE, and COMMUNICATION are the keys to running an efficient and successful business allows them to keep their focus on the customer and to continue to grow.
